There are a few things to consider when choosing the finish on your shower tap. For example, the industrial brass finish can vary in different parts across the tap, the bright or dull copper will tarnish very quickly and not all the finishes are available in every style. We also offer shower taps that can be mounted to the wall, bench/hob or in some cases even the floor. How do mixer taps work with shower?
Unlike traditional taps where the hot and cold water flow is controlled by two separate taps, a mixer tap is a single tap that draws water from both the hot and cold water supply. The water then flows together out of a single spout. The water flow and temperature can be adjusted, generally by using a lever. Many shower mixer taps allow you to set your shower tap to a temperature that suits you, and it will then turn on at that temperature every time you use your tap. This is particularly useful if you have young children as you will already know what the temperature of the water is going to be before you turn the shower on. Being able to pre-set the temperature also has the added benefit of saving water as you have don’t have to waste water while you are trying to set your desired water temperature.
Mixer taps are becoming increasingly popular in modern bathrooms for a more contemporary look. If you are renovating an old bathroom that already has non-mixer taps, you’ll need to move the old ones and adjust the plumbing which can add to the expense, but many people think it is well worth the cost to have the luxury of having a mixer tap. At Restoration Online, we sell mixer taps as well as the more traditional style of shower taps. If your shower is combined with your bath, your shower tap may also require a shower diverter which is a valve that either directs the water to the shower head or the bath spout depending on which one you are using. A shower diverter makes it easy to switch the flow of water from the shower to the bath with just the push or pull of a button.
