Sinks
Choosing the right sink can make or break a renovation project, a restoration project or a new build. Sinks are among the most functional facilities we use every day and while you may not have thought too deeply about sink designs and styles before, when you’re choosing a new bathroom sink, kitchen sink or laundry tub, knowing the types and styles you can choose from will help you select the highest functioning piece with the most style for your space.
We are also the restoration specialists where people turn to when they need to know how close to popular vintage styles they can get with a modern antique reproduction sink for their building project. Our collection of sinks online has been chosen for their high-quality manufacture, their durability and for their specific design. While we have a collection of contemporary styles to choose from, we also have a selection of particular styles from Federation Australia and onwards like Art Deco and mid-century designs that will seamlessly fit into recently renovated spaces without costing you the old world charm of the previous design. If you want to retain as many original details as possible while updating your space with more modern materials, then you’ve come to the right place.
How to choose a Sink
Starting in the kitchen, we have a range of single and double sinks to choose. Our undermount sinks are the perfect look and feel for farmhouse styles. A deep sink, the undermount sink is usually a large and rectangular style, more reminiscent of a tub. Choose from ceramic styles in both traditional and modern colours, as well as a range of dimensions to suit every kitchen. A kitchen sink in stainless steel is a sensible option, too. Stainless steel is a highly durable material – more durable than ceramic which can crack – but if you’re not looking for too contemporary a feel then we can help you with a fireclay style in matte black or crisp white instead. Instantly classic and stunningly unique, your fireclay style comes in both single bowl and double bowl.
If the kitchen is fine and you’re actually concentrating on your bathrooms and washrooms, then we have a selection of basin sinks that you’ll love. Choose traditional Federation styles or opt for a cleaner contemporary look in blinding white. For something truly special, consider an aged copper wash basin. If you need the complete unit, including a pedestal basin in the traditional Art Deco style, we have a range of designs available to choose from which includes lovely ivory rather than traditional white. Browse through our selection of vanities to match your new bathroom sink while you’re there.
In the laundry, the laundry sink is the hardest working fitting. You will want to ensure that you get something hard-wearing but traditionally styled to maintain the theme and original features throughout the rest of your home. Our selection of laundry tubs includes vintage undermount vitreous china/ceramic styles, perfect for the farmhouse look, as well as a range of premium style sinks which retain the simple features of older styles and yet merge seamlessly into contemporary Hamptons style homes. Shop by sink type to find the right kitchen sink for your project.
Are fireclay sinks durable?
Fireclay is an extremely durable form of ceramic that has a special glaze coating that is fused with the fireclay body during the firing process. During the firing process the clay is transformed into an impact resistant dense material. They're also designed to maintain their sleek appearance for a longer period of time. A fireclay sink’s hard enamel makes it highly scratch-resistant, heat-resistant and stain-resistant material and easy to clean. With that said caring and maintaining these sinks are very simple. We do not recommend using any undiluted chemicals such as bleach in your fireclay sinks. For regular cleaning, simply use a soft cloth with multipurpose cleaner or soap and water and wiping your sink down daily. In rare cases, the sink’s enamel can chip from handling pots and pans harshly, however this can be prevented from the use of a sink grid or sink mat.
Fireclay sinks can be commonly mistaken for ceramic sinks. Fireclay sinks are more durable than ceramic sinks, as they are nonporous and very heat resistant. Ceramic sinks run a higher risk of chipping or scratching. For further detailed information, see our information pages for Are Fircelay sink Durable? And our Sink Care Guide.

It’s all part of our service.
How Can Restoration Online Help?
There’s nothing more frustrating than a restoration or renovation project being halted by the need to source somewhere who stocks exactly the kind of sink that you’re looking for. If you have a rough time period or sense of style, we can normally point you in the right direction there as well. Our restoration experience means that we know both the popular styles and the slightly more exotic styles, and where to get the right looking reproduction. Often, it’s the details that really count when you’re renovating or restoring something and you don’t want to compromise the final vision for something as annoying as not being able to find the stockist. Don’t compromise, let us help you out.
We also screen every order that we send out for accuracy, including making sure that you have ordered everything you need to complete your installation in the right materials and style. For example, if you’re purchasing a new sink, but we note that not all of your pieces are of the same design or type and it seems out of place, then we’ll get in touch with you. You may have purchased two similar sinks instead of two the same, or you may have selected from two different architectural periods. Our screening process is a quick once over on your total order ensuring that you haven’t accidentally ordered something of the wrong size or type. If we do flag anything then we’ll let you know as soon as possible, saving you time spent receiving the wrong item and exchanging it for the right one.
